George Bakhturidze: Georgia
Neil was our senior colleague and dear friend, whom I first met during the FCTC negotiations in Geneva. From that time on, we periodically attended COPs and international conferences, and he always showed a deep interest in our efforts, progress, and challenges in tobacco control in Georgia.
His support was invaluable in helping us prepare the first shadow report on the implementation of FCTC obligations in Georgia.
It is deeply saddening that the global tobacco control community has lost such a cherished colleague—a smiling yet relentless fighter and a true hero of our time. He remains an inspiration not only to us but to future generations. R.I.P. Neil …
