Ruth Malone: Quiet mentorship
I am so sorry to hear we have lost Neil. His contributions to tobacco control, his leadership in pushing governments to go further faster, and his quiet mentorship of so many coming up behind him will not be forgotten. He was such a gentle, self-effacing person who deserved many more accolades in his lifetime, but I know that the pathbreaking work he did toward articulating a path to end the tobacco epidemic is continuing to ripple out and shape new visions of what is possible. My sincere sympathy to his family and Canadian colleagues. The world and the field have lost a good one and must carry forward his legacy of hope.
