Neil and Heather Crowe
In March 2002, Heather Crowe was diagnosed with lung cancer although she had never smoked a day in her life. Her doctor explained that her lung cancer was caused by exposure to second-hand smoke in the workplace and that it would kill her. Ms. Crowe had worked as a waitress for 40 years.
Neil supported Heather in her final years to every legislature in Canada to advocate for smoke free workplaces. You can see her story in this video, and how Neil and many other public health advocates supported her gift to all of us.
In 2009, the City of Ottawa officially dedicated a park located at 1902 Scott Street in Ottawa’s Kitchissippi Ward as Heather Crowe Park.
