Introduction
It has been a tumultuous couple of years. Neil received the news that he had small cell bladder cancer. He received chemo treatments and, later, immunotherapy treatments. In August 2024, it was determined that the cancer was growing more than the treatment could address, and so treatment was stopped.
We are deeply grateful for the incredible care team that has been working to ease pain, heal anything that can be healed, and look ahead to what is possible.
Neil’s health has been declining more rapidly this month, and even more this week. He is not in pain, as there are excellent pain management techniques and medications. He is in good spirits and his mind is sharp, making jokes and asking questions. He is at home in the new condo with Barb, and the children (Kevin, Rachel, Mary Ann and Laura) have been able to be with them as well. He has been able to greet, hug and visit with many family members, colleagues and friends for short visits which often have involved a break for him to have a nap. He has had a few swims in the large and beautiful condo pool, and every time, his face has lit up immensely and he has found the water to be so therapeutic and lovely.
